| Introduction
to The Church School |
|
In the short time that I have been Head Teacher of The Church School, I had been impressed by the standard of education that the school offers. Being a parent myself I know that we all want the best for our children and choosing the right school can be a daunting task. There are so many factors to consider and hopefully this prospectus will give you all the information necessary for you to be able to make that choice.
In the current educational climate a great deal of emphasis is put upon academic achievement, and if you study the league tables then the school is doing well when compared nationally with other schools. However, at The Church School, we believe that a child’s school experience should be so much more than results. We try to ensure that all pupils experience a curriculum both inside and outside of school that is broad, balanced and meaningful.
But don’t just take my word for it. I would be very happy to show you around so you can see for yourself the high quality education that The Church School offers.

The
Parish of St John plays an essential part in the running
of The Church School. The Christian ethos is an integral
part of all areas of school life, from the daily act
of worship, to the celebration of Christian festivals.
The Church provides a ‘Parish Room’ suitable
for small groups to spend time in contemplation or discussing
matters which are not always easily dealt with in the
classroom. Regular visits to the Church, in-school services
led by our clergy and a carefully drawn up Order of
Service, are just some of the ways that the church gets
involved in the life of the school. Christian practice
teaches tolerance, respect and values the individual
regardless of ‘academic’ achievement. We
equip children to deal with the diverse and challenging
society that we live in today. |

We
are very fortunate to have an active, well-balanced
Board of Governors here at The Church School. A diversity
of backgrounds and a mixture of experience enable each
governor to bring something of value to the running
of the school. We have one thing in common – to
provide the children who attend The Church School with
the best possible start in life. Every aspect of school
life has been carefully considered. School life is so
much more than spellings and sums. Before and after
school clubs run to ease the burden on working parents;
an impressive variety of extra-curricular activities,
for instance sports and music, make children’s
lives more varied; a well-equipped school kitchen provides
quality school dinners and our prestigious school building
and sports facilities are second to none. Our last Ofsted
report was very complimentary, and our excellent Standard
Attainment Test results show that our staff are successfully
delivering the National Curriculum at all levels. But
more importantly, the school is a happy place where
the children feel safe and valued. Whether you are looking
for a Nursery place or a Primary school place for your
child The Church School provides all the right ingredients
for a rewarding education. |
